Hello ! Best Regards From Russia ! My Used Prius NW20 (exported from Belgium) has problems exactly like in http://priuschat.com/TSB-EL002-05-Multi-Di...ive-t18112.html But in Russia we have no official service for Hybrids cars and new MFD - VERY EXPANCIVE (5 000 US $ at list) . Is it some body nows how to repaire my existing MFD (Its look like bad solder inside - if yes were is it??) I Russia (and in Moscow ) we have small group of Hybids Crazy Users All the Best and Thanks !!!
Ungh, I seem to remember a few posts here about people buying used MFDs mcuh cheaper then list price. If you are lucky maybe you can find a junk yard shop in Belgium and buy a working/used one cheaper? I have no idea about the solder.
Most MFD repairs are done by swapping your dead MFD for a rebuilt unit which has been repaired at the factory. Take a look at this posting: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=26072 Tom

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Prius_Russia @ Mar 9 2007, 12:12 PM) </div> OK ! No Ideas - so BAD ! Is it hardware or software problems ??????
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Prius_Russia @ Mar 12 2007, 11:52 AM) </div> Almost certainly a hardware problem with the MFD itself. This is a known issue here in North America, especially with the 2004 Prius cars. So far, my 2004 Prius has not exibited any symptoms. Perhaps the climate controlled parking at my condo helps in that regard. I'm unsure if you can source the much cheaper rebuilt MFD's from your country, without worrying about VAT, duty, etc. Is it possible to check with Toyota dealers in the EU? Wishing you luck with the MFD issue. Although it's certainly a high-tech gadget, a failure really locks you out of many functions. The steering wheel buttons only help a little. Sometimes, old fashioned knobs work best, especially for climate control.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Prius_Russia @ Mar 13 2007, 08:33 AM) </div> NHW20..EUR;EMV(W/NAVIGATION SYSTEM)-WITHOUT (EUROPE) 86110-47070 (86110-47071)
86110-47070 list price in the UK is £2142. I'm not sure how taxes, exchange rates, shipping costs might affect this. You might be able to get part 86110-47070-EX instead. This is an exchange (reconditioned I think) unit. The list price is £1823 but you have to pay £1000 over this till you return your damaged part. As you are in the trade you might get a trade discount. I get the impression that it is extremly rare that this part needs replaced. The part is either very reliable or maybe mechanics manage to fix most problems with it. I suspect most dealers won't have it in stock and they will need to order it. E&OE
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Hobbs @ Mar 14 2007, 08:35 AM) </div> here in the US it is special ordered from the refurbisher, they do not keep them in stock at the dealership. we have no idea how to fix it as they come from the refurbisher already fixed back up. new one here costs about $4000-5000 and a refurbished costs around $500. and the price difference until the part is returned is also normal, we have something set up for NA and the owner has to send the defective unit before we can even order a refurb. liability, the dealer is liable for the cost of a new one until they receive it in as a defective part.
