I just did my first Mobil-1 oil change in the Prius (0W-30 AFE) and I was on the Mobil-1 web-site randomly...saw something interesting. They're offering a $10 rebate on 5 quarts (either in the 5qt jug at Walmart, etc, or for 5 1qt containers). Considering the 5qt at Walmart is $26, that makes for a good deal. You have to go in to get the form soon, they say, and the rebate doesn't start until April, but I printed two (2 per household max) and filed them away. You do have to sign up for a "my mobil-1" account or something, but it took like 2 minutes. Just an FYI for anyone interested....
Mobil - The Oil That's Changing Oil But I couldn't seem to find the forms to download even after registering. But thanks for the tip, I'm sure when April rolls around they'll send an e-mail.
If you don't sign in, the front page has a place to click for the rebate... THEN sign in, and it will walk you through it.
It's going to go from April 1 to end of August 2009. There was an apology about short supplies due to Ike.
Unfortunately, we had to buy a case of M-1 today at Costco, as Rudy will be needing an oil change pretty soon... However, after April 1, we'll pick up a couple more cases (two trips), in order to get the rebates (2 per household! yay!). After all, oil doesn't get stale, right?
For any of you who missed (or used up) the rebate that I wrote about in the posts above, there's another one on Mobil's website that is specific to Mobil-1 AFE (0W-20 or 0W30) this time. - Go to www.mobiloil.com - Click on "promotions" in the top right corner. - Click on the "Advanced Fuel Economy Rebate Offer" link on the left. Edit: I should mention that you have to take a 2-3 minute "Drive Smarter Challenge" quiz/tutorial that has the rebate offer at the end. It's six bullet items that end up with you getting the rebate form. Between this and the other offer above, I'll have enough oil for two changes (10k each) on the Jetta and three changes (5k each) on the Prius. NICE! BTW, right now, Mobil-1 is only $22 for a 5qt at Walmart. That brings the price down nicely to $12 with this rebate. You can barely get dino-oil for that. Moral of the story...keep checking back, I never realized how these rebate offers kept on coming out. All of these are expiring in August, so they must have something lined up for the fall too...
