I performed a short test this morning: Gas tank Full EV Charge 14. 2 miles............................to 11.6 miles ( after test ) MODE HV Distance 6.5 miles. Consumption: 91 MPG ! Drive was somewhat uphill with a few dips in between, suburbia, speed, 35 - 40 MPH. Light pedal. The system stole a bit of charge off my EV, that seems to be normal. But overall I was amazed. Fuelly rates my previous 2005 at a 45 mpg average. So at 91 mpg, it looks like performance just increased by 100%. Also , I had extremely bad luck, for the life of me, I could not make a light. On the return home I put it back in EV And resumed infinite mileage? It can't get much better than that.
Andy, What was your EV/HV %s? Since you got less than 999 mpg, the PIP went into HV part of the time. However, since you got more that 56 mpg (my HV only results), you used EV some of the time.
Before the test it was 52% EV VS 48% HV. I started out of my garage in HV with the engine running. If some portion of my EV charge was used, it was involuntary, I am assuming that's where the missing 2.6 miles went.
Leaving the garage, how did you put the PIP into HV? Next Test first zero Trip A and EV1 and record them at the end of the test.
By pushing the rocker switch to the HV position, the engine came on immediately and continued to run for 20-30 seconds. I have ran the car in EV most of the time. No test necessary, Result is always : infinite ie: 999 mpg. Why are you asking Ken?
