I just replaced my Motorola Surfboard SB4100 with a Motorola Surfboard SB6120.

My download speed from speedtest.net went from 6.24 Mbps to 28.65 Mbps, and my upload speed went from 1.03 Mbps to 8.54 Mbps!!! I had done the test a few times in the past and a few times over the past couple of days, so the "before" number was not a fluke.

I'm actually paying Comcast for 12 Mbps download, and I think 2 Mbps upload, but I'm not sure of the upload I'm supposed to get.

That's a nice improvement. Switching to FiOS last December was my best improvement. :p

    Did you buy SB6120 yourself?

I had a similar experience about a year and a half ago when we moved to a new house. The phone company furnished the modem, our local cable can't even provide TV . Anyway the old Cisco modem wouldn't even link at the new house, so the phone guy comes out, looks at the modem, goes , said "I'll be right back" and came back with a Seimans unit, instant link and about triple the speed and the new unit is with a 4 port switch and 802.11G access point. It seems the old Cisco unit was like rev. 1.0 for DSL modems.

Daniel, Daniel, Daniel. Maybe someday you'll transcend this need of yours to define yourself by your material possessions.

    Yep. From Amazon.

Why, when I praise a gadget, do you insist that I am defining myself by my possessions? I like gadgets. They are cool. And when I find a great one, I let others know, in case they might be considering it.

I think I am less defined by my possessions than most of the people around me. I define myself by the things I've done, and the things I do. I don't think you know me well enough to make accusations like the above.

Edited to remove the link because even after I unchecked "embed media" and "parse links" PriusChat insisted on embedding a picture from Amazon.

I had a similar experience when Shaw upgraded my Terryon modem to the newer Motorola cable modem. Day and night difference

I wish I could get that kind of speed just by upgrading my cable modem. Sadly I'm stuck on a 7/768 plan and the power boost for about $10 more is 15/1. Not really worth it for what I do. %90 of the time I cant download that fast from the servers anyway. I would love to have at least a 10Mb upload speed every once in a while.
