Hello I only fill up my car once a month, from E so about 8 gallons...like 380-440 miles. I don't really drive that much. When it comes to scheduled maintenance should I do it by months or miles? at my current rate It will be another year(2 years total) before I hit 10,000 miles again for my second oil change.
The manual says 10,000 miles or 12 months for various services, whichever comes first. If it's been a year since your last oil change you should do it now.
agreed, and you get the first two free, so might as well take advantage. i change my oil once a year, in case it picks up condescension and the like.
As long a you're in the power train warranty, I'd play by the rules, ie: distance OR time, whichever comes first. Beyond the warranty, if you're use is very low, once a year for oil for oil change. I'm in Canada, where 6 mo or 8000 km is spec for oil change (translates to roughly 5000 miles). My trouble: this time when 6 mo rolls around we'll barely have gone 4000 km. Still in warranty, so one last time I'll stick with schedule, but after that might go to once a year. Honda has a policy like that, saying if you're very low mileage, and the in-dash Maintenance Minder hasn't got to 0% yet, do an oil change once a year.
