GM is recalling nearly 600,000 large SUVs & pickups with a gas burning V8 because of sediment that prematurely wears piston rods & cranks.

While the class action lawsuit & recall are underway - GM suggests as a remedial measure you use a heavier grade oil. LoL
Our ¾ton is diesel - fortunately - used for dragging around the 5th wheel.

but the V8 notice caught our eye because it's suggesting using heavier oil to prevent total ICE failure. Our concern was heavier oil could affect high pressure fuel pumps used on diesel fuel. Bosch made high pressure fuel pumps for both Ford and GM diesel products but gm quickly shifted to another manufacturer once they realize the Bosch failure rate was around 4%. Fortunately we aren't involved in either of the latest recall/failures. Bottom line, it ain't easy being an auto, truck manufacturer nowadays.
