We have a 2008 Prius and a 2009 Prius - both of which were purchased new in France. We might be moving to the US and would love to bring both cars with us but are wondering whether it would make the most sense financially. How involved would it be to convert our cars to US standards? Might anyone out there be able to help? Thanks!
It is almost impossible. It will be twice as cheap to buy another two prius once in the US. As Jimbo says. It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE and just not worth the hassle. Sell the cars and use the money to buy a local car when you arrive. Whilst the cars will probably be the same as the US versions (other than some lighting requirements), it won't have the suitable paperwork and compliance from the manufacturer and thus nigh on impossible to import.
