Hi. I just got an 07 Prius touring on Wed Jan 31st with 103 miles on it. Everything was fine until Sun Feb 4th . I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for what might be causing the problems I'm running into. Thanks!

Sun Feb 4th, very early afternoon,
I used the navigation system to drive about 50 miles north, 95% highway miles
    LCD Problem
    • About a ¼ way on the trip, the LCD screen goes completely black, just like a computer monitor that is turned off.
    • It responds to no touches from my finger or button presses from the physical buttons on the left and right side.
    • As it was daytime, I did not notice if the physical buttons wouldn’t illuminate
    • Buttons on the steering wheel
o info button does not function.
o map button does not function, but later in the trip pressing it does have the navigation system repeat the last voice guidance prompt..
    o Radio buttons work
o Didn’t try or can’t remember if climate control buttons worked.
    • When the navigation system gives voice guidance, it does not temporarily stop the car audio system from playing, though I am under the impression that it should.
    • I arrive at my destination and park the car. LCD touch screen still doesn’t work.
    Audio Problem
    • Additionally, one or two times while I was driving, the audio system changed what it is doing just as if I pressed the mode button on the steering wheel.

    Sun Feb 4th, late evening.
Turn on car and LCD screen turns and functions as normal.
I used the navigation system to drive about 50 miles south, 95% highway miles
    LCD Problem
    • Just like before, the LCD screen went completely back. All of the navigation behavior I described above happened.
    • It was night time but I don’t recall if the physical buttons wouldn’t illuminate.
    • The LCD screen came back on just as mysteriously as it went off about 15 miles from my destination. All functionality was restored except the Info / Consumption screen refused to chart MPG per 5 minutes. For the rest of the drive there was only 1 bar showing in the first 5 minute location.
    Audio Problem
    • Same as before

Mon Feb 5th – Wed evening Feb 7th
Drove car to / from work (5 miles each way) and everything was fine.

    Wed evening Feb 7th
On way home from work stopped to do some grocery shopping.
    LCD Problem
    • When I came back to car, the LCD screen didn’t function, just as described before.
    Audio Problem
    • Same as before

    Thursday Feb 8th - Present
Drove car to/from work or small errands
    LCD Problem
    • Didn’t come on. Never worked the entire day, as described previously.
    • Made a point to notice that the physical buttons did not illuminate when car headlights are not turned on.
    Audio Problem
    • Occurred in the evening drive home from work, which is only 5 miles, non freeway.

Time to have the dealer replace the faulty MFD. It's clearly screwed up. It may just be a loose cable connection, but since the car is brand new, they will fix it. Since it seems somewhat length-of-use related, see if you can arrive at the dealer after using the car a lot so they can see the problem.

By the way, the NAV lady only speaks out of the lower driver's speaker and the rest of the speakers continue to put out whatever audio program is playing. When your MFD is working, you can adjust how loud the NAV lady is so you can hear her over your tunes.

Welcome to PriusChat! Sorry you're having problems!

Sounds like a bad connection, but call your dealer (not the service dept I suggest) and I bet they can get you seen and addressed quickly...such a new purchase and they're going to be gung-ho to make sure they keep you happy.
