Is there is no production coupe version of the Prius/Yaris hybrids? I've seen pictures of concept cars, and PR by Toyota, but the coupe seems to be very rare if it exists at all. Does it? Are there even any PHEV coupes on the market? I'm still not clear on this point. Another idea was modding an older Prius for PHEV. Recently, a PHEV modkit firm went out of business and is liquidating their packs. Would it be possible or practical to chain two LIon packs within a single controller, or is there some other way to double up on the packs? Conversely, are there mods to expand the battery pack in a newer PHEV Prius? Finally, I decided to get the CNG mod for the Prius. The hope is to create a vehicle that is smaller than a typical Prius, has PHEV capability and runs the gas engine off CNG, which has higher octane, burns cleaner and is much cheaper - hoping for 500k+ mile lifespan and $1/250km cost of fuel. Opinions/input? Really want to know if it's possible to double up on LIon packs on a single controller...
The only 2-door plug-in I know of is the Cadillac ELR. List price is very high but substantial discounts can be had. I'd say that adding a battery to a plugin Prius is more or less a nonstarter.
Autobeyours.com made a coupe out of a wrecked Gen-II Prius a while back. I've see it. It's kind-a cute. The Toyota hybrid line is different in Europe. Maybe they offer one there based on the Yaris. Bill the Engineer.
sorry, i think you're out of luck. and i haven't heard any pr about a future one either. maybe gm will make a volt coupe, the back seat being kinda useless anyway.
There should be a period of time when a used ELR will cost about 30K before collectors realize what they are and drive the price upward again. Bill the Engineer
bte must figure they won't sell, and there will be drastic price cuts until there are only a few left, then the collectors will drive the price up when gm announces that they have been discontinued.
