My Prius and I have learned a lot of new things about each other over the last 6 months. I learned that I could overcome being a 'Type A' personality when in my car. I learned that I could become quite knowledgable about a car and annoy everyone within hearing distance talking about it. And I don't care!! When I took her in for the first oil change, I made sure that they knew not to put more that the 3.5 qts of oil in and we got into a discussion about the information available on PriusChat.com. They didn't understand the attention to oil level in the car and were puzzled when I told them that too much oil = poor gasoline comsumption rates. This spurred one of the guys to look into it and then came and explained TO ME why it would affect the mpg. Pretty funny, I thought. Anyway, the service techs there now see the connection and maybe they will be more diligent. One thing I love but haven't figured out the cause.... When I first got my car I was cautioned that I couldn't expect to get above 25mpg for the first 5-10 minutes of my drive. Well, at 4600 I suddenly get 50-60 mpg for those same 5-10 minutes on my exact same commute. I haven't changed anything and can only attribute it to the break-in of the engine. Nice to see my mpgs as a whole or average climbing. All in all, I'm one happy camper - er, driver.
Thumbs-up indeed! Congratulations! I drive pretty short distances, so I'm only up to 3K miles so far; but I'm looking forward to my 5K prepaid maintaince trip in the near future.
