Does anyone else have a vertical streak of dirty residue under the door handle of both the outside of their passenger and driver side doors. It seems like water is dripping from under the door handle. The same phenomenon also happens at the rear hatch bumper or rear license plate. After I wash and dry the car for example, it just "cries".... I noticed this on my Prius and several others actually. I want to know if anyone knows what I'm talking about and how to prevent this and/or clean it. Thanks.
perhaps water gets caught inside and drips out slowly? bringing with it some dirt trapped in there or off gassing of the rubber gasket? i have it as well. have to keep wiping til it stops.
Happens to mine also. It was really bad on a white Chevy Venture I had. Never figured out how to stop it except to keep a good wax on it and wash it off often
It is coming from the black button in the door handle. The plastic/rubber seals are UV degrading and that is the run off when the knob gets wet and dips. I found that a dab of Armorall type plastic treatment will minimize the effect. A regular washing cycle also helps......
