Hello all, new Prius owner here from Southern Maryland... I've been lurking for a few days and I guess I decided I should introduce myself, since that is the accepted forum practice. I bought a 2011 Prius 2 (or Prius II or whatever you wanna call it). I'm not new to forums, so I have been using the search function, learning about various Hybrid techniques (pulse and glide got me some pretty good MPG today, a neat experience) and today I bought a Scan Gauge II... went to the dealer to have my reverse beep and seat belt beep deactivated and got read the riot act about it being against federal law. I explained to him that it is stated clearly on pages 596-601 of my owners manual that it is customer preference, set by the dealership, but they weren't hearing it. This would be Waldorf Toyota, of Waldorf, Md. Alright, I guess my intro is out of the way, so thanks for such an informative forum. I have learned a lot in a few days, will have questions soon I am sure. One thing I would like to see is photos of Prius' with BLACK wheels. I like the black wheel look, and have been thinking of painting mine or buying black wheels. Nevertheless I will do a search and see what there is to see. Thanks! Dave
Dave, You've already discovered the joy of asking your dealer to do something practical from PriusChat, and them refusing to do it. Welcome to the club Just wait till you want to change the transaxle fluid... Welcome!
Congrats on your new Prius and welcome to PriusChat.:welcome: I don't have a ScanGauge, but I'm under the impression from PriusChat that ScanGauge will disconnect your reverse beep. Enjoy the technology, high MPGs and low-emissions.
Welcome to PC. As you've seen there is a lot of great info on the site. I spent a couple of weeks just reading old threads in the beginning and was amazed by the things that members had discovered. I've been here ever since. Yes, the ScanGauge will do this. I used mine to set the reverse beep to one beep instead of endless beeping and beeping and beeping.
