So now that we are getting a lot of rain and cloudy weather, I need to use my headlights during daytime. This means that the navigation LCD dims when I turn the lights on, making it impossible to watch what's on the screen.

You can enable/disable day mode which will deal with that, but then I have to change it again in the morning when it's actually dark outside. This is just a 'small' problem, but it's pretty annoying.

Has anyone come up with a solution? The only thing I can think of is a visor, but I doubt it will help much when the screen is that dim.

yes. use the dim control dial to the left of your steering wheel next to the fuel release button and put it all the way up, at the highest setting. that will engage day mode.

it also works in reverse – setting it at the very bottom when no parking lights are on will trigger night mode.
