I set out to replace the drivers side front lower ball joint on my 2011 prius. Never done one before but this is how i learn. Like most times i try to do something myself, I messed up, creating bigger problems. here’s the problem: as i was trying to break the ball joint castle nut loose, I pulled the knuckle too far outward and the axle or driveshaft (not sure what this piece is called) slipped out of place and i can’t get it to fit back in right. It looks and sounds like the disconnect is right at that larger accordion boot. Any help is appreciated
Might be best to have that boot off for a look-see. That, in turn, probably calls for new boot clamps and the tool for setting them. Might all be easier with the driveshaft out of the car. There used to be a business in town here specialized in driveshaft rebuilds. Reasonable prices, fast, good work. Maybe somebody like that near you?
