I took my 2007 Prius in to the dealer today and they said I need my muffler, exhaust pipe and gasket replaced. They quoted me a price of $492! I took my car over to a locally owned exhaust place and the guy told me they could custom build the repair for $200. My question is: Is there anything special about the Prius exhaust system? Is there any reason I shouldn't go with an aftermarket muffler from a dependable local garage? I've searched the web but I really haven't found an answer. Any insight would be appreciated!

I have just under 70,000 miles on the car. The muffler and exhaust pipe are really rusted. The mechanic let me look at it, and I'm surprised the pipe is still hanging on! It is louder when I accelerate.
