A couple of things. First, the front tire's thin circular cover that goes around the outside of the rim is missing; either it flew off while driving, or someone made off with it. Is there a way I can look up the part number, short of going to the dealer and asking? Second, I noticed a few weeks back that the rear right tire was horribly low in tire pressure when compared to the other tires (other tires were around 35, while that particular tire was at 22!!). I aired up the tires, thinking this was just a weird coincidence. Well today I went to check the tire pressure, and that tire was at 15psi!!! I couldn't believe it. At first I thought my gauge was off, but the other tires read fine (37-39). I aired up that tire, and checked for any damage to the tire; none could be found. I only have 12,000 miles on the car, so would the tire be covered under warranty (they're the original tires that came with the car).
42602-47030 but before you go and invest in a new one take the other one off and stand back and look at the car. The wheels look really good without the trim ring.
Thanks for the quick reply. So i guess the next step (after i remove the other ones and decide which look i prefer) is to goto the dealer and give them that part number. Now I only have to worry about the tire problem. I'm hoping it's a valve problem, and not the tire itself. I hope I can get a replacement tire soon, if it comes to that.
The Prius comes with a warrantee on the tires. Look in your documentation. It should be there. If not ask your dealer or call the Toyota Customer Care number. Also, a fair number of people here have removed their Trim Rings because they like the looks better. Maybe if you post up ISO Trim Ring someone will want to get rid of them.
Yeah, I'd post a thread in the Private Sales forum before buying it from the dealer. Many owners have taken theirs off and just have them sitting around.
