Hey all, I'm working with a team at UC Davis that's modifying a Toyota Prius motor to be put into a Chevy Equinox. I'm trying to get a radiator sized for the new car, but to do the calculations I need some information (hopefully this is available somewhere.) First, what temperature does the motor like to be at? (optimal running temperature) Second, what is the fluid flow rate and/or pressure generated by the water pump? Last, I'll need to know the rate of heat dissipation for the motor when running gasoline. If anybody can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Phil
My second question is: What are you doing with the Equinox engine? I would suggest sending a PM to galaxee. She could probably help you.
The thermostat opens at around 85C. No idea about the rest of it; how do you even calculate the heat loss rate of an engine, even under ideal conditions not taking into account its being wedged into an engine compartment or how fast the car is moving through the air, and what ambient temp is... without just taking some measurements of a real-life setup? . _H*
