Howdy all! I've been a member of the forum for a couple of weeks now and finally have the chance to post. I am the proud new owner (5/9/12) of a Prius C3 Magnetic Gray Metallic with moonroof. Let me start by saying that this is my first hybrid. I had always wanted a Prius, but never thought I could afford one. When I started looking for a new car, I went to the Toyota showroom and my partner and I sat in a car labeled Prius. It was a Prius C1, but I thought it was the traditional Prius - I had no idea there was a new model out! From the moment I sat in it I thought it was really cool and kind of fell in love with it. Then I saw the sticker price and I was sold! After a week of agonizing and deciding among trim levels, I opted for the C3. (I was undecided about the moonroof, but now that I have it I'm glad I do.) I traded in my 2003 Honda Civic (which I really did love and gave me 30 mpg avg and no headaches). Long story short - I LOVE this car. I always was pleased with my Civic's fuel economy, but the Prius C rocks. My daily commute (13.2 miles each way) is uphill one way and downhill the other through urban/country roads. After 7 round trips I'm averaging 54 mpg (obviously better on the way home). I'm taking it to the gas station today for my first fill-up - after owning the car for 10 days! Enjoy your new Prius! Welcome to the forum too. Not having a moonroof is the one thing I miss as a result of upgrading from a 2010 to a PHV model. It was nice having that. Heck, even my mom who never showed any interest in one, now says she misses it too. It's nice that C offers one, since that's the type of Prius she'll likely get. Hearing that you didn't know a new Prius was available is exciting. It means there's untapped demand, a juggernaut waiting for more showroom discoveries.
Thanks! I'm so NOT a car person, it's really a shame. On the other hand it was a really nice surprise falling for the car "organically". I can also see why the whole mpg thing becomes an obsession - the car kind of makes you want to do better.
Congrats! Magnetic Grey C3 with moonroof was my second choice. I really thought it was a sharp color. Pics?
Congrats! My agony was seeing the first Cs sold in the US - mid-February in Honolulu and having to order one cause all the color choices I wanted sold out in a few hours. Do you work at a school? The building in the second pic looks vaguely like the school I work at - ours is old and red faux brick.

Such a gorgeous car, congrats! I definitely was like you in always wanting a prius hybrid but didn't think I could afford it - so glad this car came out!
I just saw the magnetic grey up close and in the sunlight for the first time.. WOW it sparkles.. pretty color. On a side note- I was at the dealership because they forgot to show me where to jumpstart the car if needed and I guess that is something they are supposed to make sure to tell you when you pick up the car. So I ran by there to have them show me, three salespeople and some tech guys later.. they figured out where the battery was! They said that it was a learning experience for them too!!
I got the same one...I suggest you tint the rear windows...it looks great and it makes the interior much cooler.
