Hey, I just bought an '04 Prius and figured now that I own it, I can join the site. I like the look of the 2010 Prius, but I'm halfway through my Dave Ramsey makeover, and so this is what I could afford. I love the car, my girlfriend loves the car, and even though it's not my first or second choice in color, I believe I'll be happy with it for a long time. If you've ever seen Jeff Dunham talk about his blue Prius, you'll know exactly the color blue mine is. I like the darker blue, but, oh well. This is my first hybrid, but my gf has a Ford Escape Hybrid. I've been lurking for quite a while, but I'm sure I'll be posting fairly regularly.
Welcome and great job sticking to the plan! Wife and I took the course too and we slip from time to time (like on our 2010) but it has made a big difference in our lives. Financial Peace to you! Peter
Welcome officially then. The GenII is still an excellent car so don't feel bad you don't have a GenIII. I love my car more than any other I've owned and I've owned some pretty nice/sporty cars.
Thanks! The 2010 put up a good fight, but in the end, I like knowing that if anything happens, I've got a free and clear title, not a memorandum. Back in 2006, I was shopping for a car, and I gave a Prius a good look, too. I loved it, then, but I went with my emotional side, rather than my sensible side. It was before I turned my financial life around, and I ended up buying a new Dodge Magnum. With a Hemi. The big one. Being in my 20's at the time, I played with it more than I should have, and averaged 12 mpg. Even then I still respected the technology of a Prius. The only thing my SRT8 had going for it over the Prius is a little more space in the back, and an admittedly nicer exhaust note. I'll take my whirrs and beeps and 50mpg.
The SRT8 does indeed sound great! Back when I was racing trucks a couple friends had the SRT10 truck. Thankfully they sounded much nicer than the Vipers did. I don't care how my friends modded them, the Vipers always sounded bad lol.
