Thanks Sandy. I'm very tempted. Mainly because I've had 1 PC desktop and 2 PC laptops break down in the last 2 years, while my daughter's Macbook is still going strong after 4 years.
The amount of growing traffic in our local Apple store seems to indicate that the iPhone users are seeing more and more interesting things in the store and buying Macs is getting to be a more common conversation with people I know. I switched to Mac last year after having problems with 3 different Vista based machines by three different manufacturers. It was just more wasted time than I had to spend, so I decided to try something different. I've really enjoyed my Mac Book Pro, and my wife just loves her Air and is still signing up for One-To-One classes 1-1/2 years later because she gets so much out of them.
My wife would be delighted to be given a new 'puter, but her hand-me-down 5 year old G4 powerbook is fine. Apple's famed built-in obsolescence really dropped the ball. ;-)
You weren't kidding! It's not even the end of the day yet, and the price has gone back to normal -- $899 with the education discount.
I saw that University of Maryland specific page earlier this evening. But this morning, I'm sure it was a non-specific generic page showing the $728 special with the $100 education discount -- it was the same page that now shows the price of $899 with the $100 education discount.
