Just installed last week, 195/65/15 on our 2011 Prius lll. On a 21 mi trip each way we commonly make, the new Michelins gave us a computer reading of 61.1 mpg, up from an average mpg with the OEM Yokohamas of 56 MPH. We get the $70. rebate being offered now from Michelin and I sold the OEM tires with 5k miles for $180. Tire pressure used for both tires by me is 42 front and 40 rear. The MPG on the Michelins is better than we expected and with my net cost now, I am very pleased.
They are pretty incredible. The cons are worse handling than the S33D. Given a choice I would choose the Energy Saver A/S.
Good to hear about the benefits on the switch. I am a cheap SOB, so I will hang on to my OEM tires for now I guess, or until the next rebate from Michelin. Too lazy to check, but think these are the same tires F8L talked about.
If you get the $70 rebate they are comparable to other quality LRR tires. Being Michelin they are not cheap but with the rebate they come out to around $97/ea. at TireRack.com. The AVID Ascend, Ecopia EP422 and Goodyear FuelMax are close in price. The only really good LRR tire that is significantly cheaper is the Continental ProcContact with EcoPlus but it suffers a mpg hit compared to the EOM tires. It lasts longer and performs MUCH better though. See my LRR tire thread for more info. Low Rolling Resistance replacement tires: Current List | PriusChat
A local tire dealer matched the Tire Rack on line price and matched the contract mounting costs of Tire Rack + $10. ea shiping. They were mounted 4 days after my order.
When we got the Energy Saver tires the original (195x65x15) Yoko Avids were installed on my 2003 Jetta TDI Wagon as they were the same size and the Jetta needed tires anyway. We got a 2-3 mpg immediate increase over the Yoko tires. We have nearly 62,000 miles on them and expect 70,000 miles treadlife. I keep all 4 tires at 44 psi and they are wearing perfectly.
