I have a 2010 with 175k on it. Noise started within the last two months. Finally decided to video since I don’t know how to best describe it. Does anyone have any insight? Hopefully the link will work:
Yep, you have an early Gen 3 and that's the brake bark/quack. See this post and check whether your brake ECU is running the updated firmware version or newer. (Which version is appropriate depends on whether your car came with the 15 or 17 inch wheels.) If it is older, have it reflashed. If it still quacks after that, there may be repairs needed, but start by getting the fixed firmware version in there. Mine has quacked maybe once since I had the reflash. -Chap
If there's brake hardware to be replaced and the cowl has to come out, then it might make sense to clean the (unrelated) EGR plumbing at the same time, just because it's there. But none of that has to happen to reflash the firmware. -Chap
Had my car hooked up to Techstream yesterday which produced an unconfirmed code of P3000. Tech yesterday advised I bring her in to determine acuator versus hybrid battery or even possibility of a spark plug misfiring as I had them replaced last year per a service recommendation. Dealership prognosis - I have been told it is the brake booster and covered under an extended warranty. Rep stated usually $3500 to repair.
If they gave you any specific information (or if you can get them to) about just what warranty extension that is, it would be great information to post here. Often a recall or extension campaign will have a 3 letter/digit code identifying it. For instance, there was a recall on the 2010 accumulator identified by D0H. Did they mean that recall in this case, or a different warranty extension with a different code? -Chap
They were not specific. There were no warning lights and one of the reasons my tech had instructed me to bring it to the dealership is because techstream did not give a confirmed P3000 code. I have had issues for quite some time and being this is the only dealership I bring the car to I am curious as to whether it has been missed for quite some time despite my telling them she has not been running correctly.
