Just wanted to say hello and make aware to anyone in the market for a new 2015 Prius. I just picked up a Prius Two, not II as it is not a 2010, in Blizzard Pearl with 3 miles. MSRP: $27,200 Sale Price: $21,800 OTD after fees and taxes: $23,474 (no loyalty) Looking forward to saving the earth and money at the pump!
You are correct. It was $26k MSRP. I couldn't find a one that didn't have the dealer protection package already installed (tint, mud flaps, paint and interior 12 month warranty protection, etc). That added $1200 or so to sticker. In the end I was happy with the OTD price. Especially since I had one day to shop around. I emailed in the morning and we closed the deal in the afternoon.
Car looks good. I'm wondering if the tint is legal? The front Windows are so dark, would be a liability for the dealer if that were an illegal tint
I think the picture makes them look darker than they are. The are the legal limit in Texas. And thank you for the warm welcome everyone
I suspect the dealer add-ons were really SWT add-ons. South West Toyota has the rights to distribute Toyotas to all dealers in several of the SW states dating back to the days when Toyota was trying to break into the US market and didn't have the cash to do all 50 states. So they sold the distribution rights to SET and SWT. Those distributors can force every car going to a dealer to have those not-really optional overpriced add-ons. I actually drove 2 states away to buy a car without them. Worth a day of my time and a train ride to pick it up. Out the door in 30 minutes without a single add-on and an internet no surprise price.
You are probably right. Every single Prius Two, not II as it is not a 2010, (and possibly other models) had the protection package installed. Would have I liked the sales price to be $1k cheaper... yep. But in the end I needed the Prius that day and was happy with the $21,800 sales price. And driving 2 states away in Texas would take two days at least
The protection package was "valued" at $1200, you didn't pay that. Many dealers like to give a added "value" to the car, to make it seem you got a bigger discount. Either way, you got a good deal
Texas is under Gulf States Toyota and yes they tack on these high profit add-ons to nearly every unit at the port. My wife would, most likely, be driving a 2015 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) if not for GST and their "infinite wisdom" of not bringing in any level 5's with the advanced package. CONGRATS Ginger Jay and enjoy your new car. You can learn a lot about here.
