Going to pick up our new 2013 Prius V (basic model) tomorrow. Looking for any words of wisdom for the first few months of driving. Do's and Don'ts so to speak. I figure asking those who have gone before will make our ownership even better.
Vary the car's speed, and load on the engine. Avoid hard acceleration for a while. (days, not months) Learn your mirrors, instruments, blind spots. Have fun, do not stress over mileage for a tank or two. There is a cup holder under the cup holder you first see in the console.
Thanx for the quick response. When you say vary speed, I assume you mean don't use cruise control for a few days and intentionally run the speed up and down?
If you live in a hilly area, just going up and down hill will vary the speeds of all the complements, I live in the Mississippi delta so I can drive 150 miles and not vary altitude by 100 feet. For me, I need to vary the speed as I have no up or downs. The engine has no set RPM at any one speed, wind, rain, hills, even temperature will vary engine speed.
I have the 2012 Prius"v" 2 base model, which is not much different than the one that you're getting. I'd recommend the mud flaps and ditching the wheel covers. The OEM type hub center caps are available here; Toyota ALUMINUM WHEEL CENTER CAP Part Number 42603-12730
Thanx for the replies. Another question I have is about inverters. I had one in the older car and it was handy. What experiences have you had with them in the V?
