Toyota has started selling in Puerto Rico a big, 4000 lbs. + retro-styled SUV called the FJ Cruiser. Judging by the experience with the Yaris, the FJ should start selling in the US during the next six months or so. Toyota will sell plenty of FJs, especially among the more affluent younger folks. Got my invite in the mail yesterday for an RSVP open house at my dealer where they will show the new Rav4, Camry, FJ Cruiser and Yaris. They say it is a "first look" - but I wouldn't know as I haven't been there since the last inspection/oil change.
I saw one (FJ) Saturday when I went to buy oil filters. Pretty big and really Ugly. Kind of a cross between Element and Hummer. Also 30 large on the sticker.
I think it is a very cool looking truck. If I was in the market for an SUV I would totally be looking at this truck. But I love the original FJ series trucks. I have been looking into importing one of the old 70's or 80's diesel versions from Canada so I can run Bio Diesel
I saw this at the SD car show. I thought it was a take off of the Land Cruiser. Nice but definitely large in more ways than one. You can't say that Toyota is narrow-minded, from the Prius to the Tundra and these. They make a play for everyones dollar and do it well.
Hi All, Are you sure the FJ Cruiser is only available in PR? I actually saw one driving around a far western suburb of Chicagoland on Sunday evening. They are BIG. Nice color scheme though. Would not mind that color scheme on my Prius.
The FJ cruiser is ugly IMHO... of course I would say the same about the Hummer, Land Rovers, and most other big SUVs...
