We just got a new RAV4H. What's the latest thought on extended warranties purchase with the fancier safety electronics? We skipped it on the 2006 and lucked out...many got water pump replaced but we did not need to So far we skipped on the new RAV4H but dealer wants to make an offer.
Pictures? Tough call, especially those electronics. The standard warranty is pretty good though. I've never got it, have yet to regret it.
I would say NO. But if you plan to keep the car long time, and having the "insurance" on it make you sleep better, maybe depending on the price. You have until 3yrs/36kmiles whichever earlier to decide.
Nope. Never. No way, No day. Don't. Take the $1,000 that you would have wasted on the warranty and put it in a checking account / index fund / jar buried in your back yard, etc, and then attempt a DIY solution to anything that you encounter as a problem between mile 36001 and 125000..... MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Change your profile and post some pix.....a review.....etc. Good Luck!
See my November 2017 and more recent comments. The active safety systems can increase the cost of repairs, but this often happens in situations not covered by typical service agreements, such as repairs after a collision, or recalibration of the forward recognition camera after replacement of a cracked windshield.
There are better deals to be had than your dealer will offer, if you must. Wander over to rav4world and do a search. Two names keep coming up. I got a great quote from one of them. But my car is 9 months old and I can delay buying the warranty until just before the bumper to bumper manufacturers warranty runs out at 24 months. If you do, know that the salesperson, the sales manager, the dealer will all love you. And there are dealer and warranty admin costs too that factor into the price of the warranty. So you know for sure that the insurer plans to pay out in claims on average well less than the amount you will pay for the policy. (CU says something like 35%.) A casino pays lots to a few, some break even, many many more lose. The casino always wins. (political remark omitted)
