Not just quick, but efficient too Volkswagen has picked up the pace with its BlueMotion initiative in more ways than one. Earlier this month it was the Polo BlueMotion introduced in Geneva alongside the regular Polo, but VW has just announced that its latest Golf GTD, a performance-oriented clean diesel, will join the lines of the iconic GTI. Its 125 kW or 170-PS (168-horsepower) output rating is good, but like all diesels this new model is more about instantaneous torque. Yes, that makes the lack of any information about Newton meters strange, but it appears Volkswagen was more interested in telling us about the GTD’s phenomenal fuel economy, rated at 5.3 L/100 km, and environmentally do-gooder CO2 emissions of only 139 grams per kilometer.
