Hart Island is New York's Potter's Field Madison Square Park, Washington Square Park and Bryant Park in New York City originated as potter's fields. The city's current potter's field, and one of the largest cemeteries in the United States with at least 800,000 burials, is on Hart Island in the Bronx.
