Although I enjoyed my Duramax-diesel truck, it really didn't suit my needs anymore and I started looking at smaller cars. I have to admit that the Chevy diesel's mileage was amazing considering its size and weight, but 98% of the time it was me alone, in an empty truck that was difficult to park in regular lots & garages. Today I just did it; I traded for a 2012 Prius 3 with sunroof & leather. Very nice little car & actually fun to drive, although I'm a little intimidated at the electronics. I considered the Volt, but I didn't like the idea that it had to be plugged in regularly and tended to lose its outstanding mileage advantage if you mostly drive long, highway trips (as I do). Plus the $46K pricetag was hard to justify. This is my first Toyota & I look forward to many trouble-free miles & outstanding mileage!
Congrats! I have an identical 2010 model that is purring right along at 27k miles. This time of the year, I can 50+mpg if I try REAL hard but just driving it without worrying too much I can get 45-46mpg. You should save tons in fuel costs.
I think the fuel savings alone will pay for the car in no time! Thanks for the greetings & I look forward to the challenge of getting every last mpg out of the little Toyota!
Don't worry, you will get used to the electronic toys in no time, and wonder how you managed without some of them. SKS for one Ask any questions you might have -- we all were new owners once. The manual is worth flipping through too.
Wow. That sounds like one heck of a switch. Welcome to Priuschat. :welcome: If the electronics get to be too much, just ask. We're more than happy to help.
Welcome! It may take a bit of getting used to ... but not hearing the blum blum blum blum at the red lights is do-able. Then after a while, the sound of silence really starts to sound great!
Welcome to Prius ownership. I to sold a turbocharged (gasser) truck for a Prius. I never regret the decision and the gas savings paid for the car. I recently move on to my second Prius. Silence and high mpg is addicting.
Great choice and welcome aboard! You can always rent a truck when you need one. I would have said ask a buddy but they will probably disown you.
Yea. I know it sucks to have to drop the truck, given that if you aren't using it for the power the gas costs are a pain in the whoha. And I know I have my gripes about the big truck owners in parking garages... But for the vehicle itself, I can't blame people who need the big truck and power for the purpose it was intended.
