SOLD: Nissan-branded (AeroVironment) L2 EVSE (aka home charging station/dock) update: Item has been SOLD!!! I entered the drawing at Nissan LEAFâ„¢ home charging dock sweepstakes and received notification today that I was a winner. Thing is, I don't have a Leaf, EV or PHEV yet and if I take it, I'll have to take the tax hit. Putting feelers out to see if anyone wants to buy it off me. If you're local, we could meet somewhere to complete the transaction. Since it has a [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAE_J1772"]SAE J1772 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] connector, it will definitely charge a Leaf and should charge other cars w/J1772 connectors (e.g. Volt, PiP, i-Miev, Focus EV, Coda, etc.) More info below: AeroVironment: EV Pioneer Becomes a Charging Leader | PluginCars.com My Nissan Leaf Forum • View topic - Need pictures of the inside of the Aerovironment EVSE -RS
I was looking for someone to cover my possible tax hit and then some. So far, I've gotten numerous offers and a couple are $500, including a guy who's sorta in my area...
Ok. I sent and faxed in the paperwork then got a confirmation email this morning. I've chosen to take the unit only and will sell it. I've gotten a whole bunch of responses from folks on MyNissanLeaf and on Priuschat already. I'm semi-busy w/high priority items today and will try to get back to those who responded via PMs by end of this weekend. There were at least two folks that were sorta local (within reasonable driving distance) so I'm leaning towards going w/them. Thanks all!
Just a heads up (haven't had a chance to send PMs to folks who responded), the EVSE that I won was sold today to a local Priuschatter w/a PiP. Sorry... maybe some other winners will come forward and sell theirs? I can see why these things are so expensive. The unit felt quite robust. I can see why the Open EVSE assemblers were paying ~$275 for a cable and J1772 connector. The cable was very thick and heavy, w/the diameter similar to a garden house. The unit itself had a pretty heavy plastic casing. The whole box had a shipping weight of 19 lbs. The EVSE has a 3 year warranty and if anything goes wrong, they send someone out. I was surprised (but understood why later) that the front cover/lid wasn't even screwed in (they supply 9 screws for that). You have hardwire it and run wires in the various terminals inside.
How long ago did you enter and win your charger that you won from Nissan? I bought mine in February and entered the contest the second week of the promotion and have yet to receive it. I was thinking it was a scam until I came across your post here.
Luckily, I have the confirmation email. I entered on January 25, 2012. I was notified I won on April 12. Did you receive any sort of notification that you won? If so, you had to fill out a form w/release, declaration of compliance, etc. It had to be received by them within 10 calendar days of the notification email, otherwise they'll draw someone else. The place isn't a scam. They (http://www.eprize.com) have been the fulfillment house for at least one other thing I won before, specifically the one week test drive I won of a Lexus HS a few years ago. I received the unit and sold it to a semi-local Priuschatter.
