Hey everyone, I'm posting this just in case someone in the future has a similar problem. I haven't had cruise control for YEARS in my 2007. As far as I know, I didn't do anything to cause this. No matter what I did, the cruise light would not turn on and wouldn't engage. I didn't have any other issues. Every button on the steering wheel worked just fine at every angle turning the steering wheel and I didn't have any lights on the dash or common blinking cruise light. As many other people have posted, it wasn't the brake switch (I think that's what it's called) but it was the clock spring. I replaced with a $30 one from eBay and that fixed it. It might not last forever, but I'm happy I at least diagnosed the problem. A HUGE thanks to chrisfix for posting this video. It made the clock spring replacement an absolute breeze.
Good job! Amazing that the cruise was the only thing affected and nothing else went out over those years.
Yeah that's wild That's what I have in my '05 I think just the horn doesn't work everything else my cruise control works everything just the horn does not work connections are there and good but apparently they're not in the clock spring I'm going to pop one off my '07 and pop it on the '05 and everything should be good looks like the plugs are the same we'll see in a minute
congrats, and thanks for posting! there have been a lot of problems with chinese clock springs, so if it poops out prematurely, consider an oem next time. but i hope you have great success with it!
