Not sure if I have the right stop to post in, I have a 05 prius, not sure if it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation. I overfilled the oil level, on accident and then something happened and then got distracted by something else. So I leave for work and in the first 5 miles of my 60 mile commute to work & the red triangle comes on but car keeps running normally. I make it to work, After work I start the car and it is making a whirling sound I have never heard before, It will not accellerate. I makes it to about 19 - 27 miles an hour then shuts down. I put a code reader on it and only two codes come up POA92 & POA7A Does any body know what these mean? Thanks in advance
1 quart- I since then drained the quart off, and cleaned the throttle body but still making the same sounds.
I replace the inverter coolant pump a year ago - it still appears to be working- fluid is moving in the reservoir.
there is a thread here including a POA7A and it ws a blown tranny. don't know how specific it is tho, the dealer replaced the inverter first.

Checking the Blue book value of the prius in my area, the value is rather low. So I will have to weight the cost of fixing and the value of the vehicle.
runaway rpm,s | PriusChat Maybe if you cleared the codes and reset the ecu's ? Prius Service and Repair - Toyota Prius Specialists | Atlanta Hybrids Scroll down to common tranny problems.
Also factor in that the rest of the car has gone 278k miles and could possibly end up needing a lot of fixing in the next couple years.
P0A92 means either the transaxle or the inverter has failed. P0A7A means that the hybrid vehicle ECU, transaxle, or inverter have failed. You might want to get your local Toyota dealer to obtain the DTC and info codes to more precisely pin down what is wrong with your car. Good luck.
One thing is for certain. The OP got a good run out of that Prius. Well past Toyota's expected "lifetime". When you consider the location which is more than likely hot and probably humid, plus possible salty air also those factors speak volumes as to the quality of the Gen II Prius. Ron (dorunron)
