Just getting started and looking for some help. Have a 2004 prius w 298,000 hoping for 300,000. Had the p lock language come on and jumped the fuse. Seemed to work for some time and language came on again. Tried to just reset the dash by unplugging 12volt battery and now car can not start. No dash lights no inverter pump sounds no ready light.....no sounds when pushing the brake to start car. Door locks work. Tried to jump from front fuse box and still nothing. Send help or advise. Thanks.
Need to verify 12 volt is good not sitting at 12 volts or 12.1 You're looking around 12 and a half for an AGM battery of this size generally speaking. There should be some codes hiding in your system somewhere You need an appropriate reader to get those codes out not just one you buy at Walmart there's a whole sticky in this site about the things that will and will not work to suck the codes out of a Prius You can go round and round and round with this for weeks so you might want to get that sorted so you can actually get your codes and actually have 12 real volts to power all the 21 computers in your car so you can have a chance at getting the information you need to get your car back in shape All the P lock mechanism is. Is like putting your mechanical old hooptie leave her into park except here you're just pushing a button which moves the solenoid for the parking paw so it's telling you for some reason it doesn't want to let you out of park because it's not a happy camper sometimes it's a high voltage leak from the battery to the frame of the car and many situations the computers will not allow the car to unlock the park mechanism if it doesn't feel it safe You have to find out why the car thinks it's not safe and that's with an appropriate scan tool.
Check voltage, as has been typed. Try the button a few times, put the fob in the dash slot. Had a similar issue, sometimes the computer just take a few shots to remember what to do!
Quickest thing, just off the top of my head would be to see if AM2 fuse is blown. That will totally kill the dash, except for the door ajar, iirc. If blown, inverter cooling pump is likely failing and popped the fuse. Unplug it, then install spare fuse.
