Hope things are well in your world. 2012 plugin in Florida Last Friday got in and went about my business as usual as I do every Friday. No signs of anything amiss no flickering lights, no problems starting, no warning lights. Came home parked the car as always, same location same manner. Got in today no signs of power whatsoever, doors don't lock, no lights of any kind on the display. No doors were left ajar and no lights left on. Battery connections tight. 12V is dead barely reads a volt. Before I replace the 12v What is most likely the cause of such a sudden and dramatic loss of power? I will more than likely have to have a shop make any repairs other than the battery replacement, any cautions regarding possible unscrupulous behavior they may try to pull over on someone such as myself? Any reason not to go to a independent shop?
i had the same exact thing happen 4 years ago. in my case, the battery died of old age. popped in a new one, it has been fine ever since. unless your battery is within the warranty period, all you likely need is a new one. i've never heard of anyone getting scammed, get a price and battery model before you commit though.
How OLD is that battery ? Regardless, batteries sometimes fail exactly like that. More likely the older it is. Get a new battery. Make sure it is fully charged and then see what happens next. Don't make this harder than it IS.
