I have this noise coming from under the front hood when I first start the car in the morning. It sounds like a bad bearing. What is spinning before the gas engine starts up ? Is therre any recalls ?
Thats the coolant pump pumping hot/warm coolant out of the coolant thermos storage. You'll hear the same pump pumping hot coolant into the thermos for storage when you turn off the car.
Yes, that's normal. No need to worry about a bad bearing or a recall. You may hear a few clicks and a whirring noise, something like a home aquarium pump or a quiet air compressor, before it starts and after it stops. The gas engine is actually spinning before gas is added and it 'starts', but you probably won't hear that. Is the noise any different than when you first bought the car?
Yeah either the coolant pump (if you press the POWER button) or the brake actuator releasing pressure (if you step on the brake pedal)
Share 1950 - The sound may or may not be normal. If it is a new sound then it is suspect. There are a lot of posts related to noisy coolant transfer pumps. Do a forum search for "coolant transfer pump".
