Does the P.Prime have a low-speed external "noise maker" when operating in EV mode? (That, to warn pedestrians that a Prius in stealth mode is approaching.) If so, what does it sound like, and how loud is it from the cabin? Personally, I'm OK with it having such equipment as long as I can't hear it within the cabin (windows rolled up). If I can hear it, then I instantly hate it.
Yes. It sounds like when you have a stethoscope on a jet engine. Kidding. I couldn't hear it but I gather you can if you know what you're listening for.
it's been in the u.s. on toyota hybrids since 2012. not a requirement until next year. it's very quiet, even people walking in front of me in a parking lot don't recognize it. the only time i hear it is windows down, engine off, inside the garage. it's a bit of a light saber sound.
I can't hear noise maker with Windows open operating 35 MPH ....just testing right now..... I can hear noise from the road tires and EV mode....
Is it like when you use to put a playing card and cloths pin in the spokes of your bike wheel as a kid?
People just think it's the sound of the electric motor but the car would be almost silent if it weren't there
This video is totally mis-representative. The sound in the video sounds like something generated, which I'm ok with. The actual sound , sounds like there is something broke in the car, it sucks (IMO).
The dealer can set one of 3 sound levels, I can't imagine why you would want to run folks over, so I don't know why you would change it.
Why would I run over someone. I am driving. I don't want to hear a noise like that in the car I am buying to be a non noise car.
