Check this site out for a different perspective. The links seem to be to reputable scientists. (if you believe titles) no more questionable than those on RealClimate! http://www.iceagenow.com/ Seems to be counter intuitive until you really think about it. Hotter Earth, more evapoation, more rain, more snow, BAM Ice age! (ice age NOT cold age, there is a difference) It seems to say that glaciers that are receeding are doing so because its not percipitating on them, but others are actually expanding!
Both "An Inconvenient Truth" and the "Great Climate Swindle" suffer from the deficiencies of popular culture. They are meant to entertain, not stand as rigorous, peer-reviewed research. The "Great Climate Swindle" has Exxon support written all over it. "An Inconvenient Truth" falls short. Journalism and Mr. Gore are not climatologists. The information they present is at minimum second hand. Neither video makes use of multivariate analysis, both confuse "theory" vs. "hypothesis," both do not recognize lag effects. Both ignore capital costs, there is no discussion of chaos (highly structured), the CO2 focus is simplistic and tends toward pop culture sensationalism. Both ignore the wealth of efficiency solutions identified by the Rocky Mountain Institute, both ignore photovoltaic investments made by fossil fuel companies. Both overwhelming overlook the concept of sustainability at US affluence levels, ignore stewardship and ostentatious consumption. There is no mention of carrying capacity. I suggest you read the "unequivocal" (first of four parts) original peer-reviewed paper (attached). The IPCC reviewed 30,000 peer-reviewed, published papers for this fourth iteration. Hearsay and second-hand information was not considered. Popular culture confuses "weather" (short-term condition of the atmosphere) with "climate" (per the World Meteorological Organization, the means and extremes of most recent 30-year period including precipitation, temperature, actual and potential evapotranspiration, soil water-holding capacity, Indices of Moisture, Aridity and Humidity, net primary productivity and latitude at a particular site). "An Inconvenient Truth" was a common discussion topic at the 2007 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Francisco, 15-19 February 2007. The concensus was that "An Inconvenient Truth" is generally credible. "The Great Climate Swindle" (BBC TV production) was not mentioned.[attachmentid=7435]
Seems like more Junk Science to me. The author is not even in the field of climatology or even geology. David Bellamy's Inaccurate and Selective Figures on Glacier Shrinkage are a Boon to Climate Change Deniers.
