My wife and I were talking and I was saying, now is the perfect opportunity for Toyota to fix the "jerky backing up" issue encountered by so many of us PCer's. Many of those who have posted on that subject feel it also is a software issue, and it seems to me that while toyota is debugging this recent iteration of ABS software, while there rewriting those codes, , NOW would be the perfect opportunity to make a preemptive strike in their favor on that "jerky back-up" issue. It seems reasonable to me that one of the NEXT issues Toyota faces will be that of the problem of "jertky backing up". Because now that the spotlight is on Toyota, each and every complaint will be closely scrutinized. If that issue were addressed now wile correcting the ABS software before complaints on that issue begin to mount and draw attention to that problem, thus, minimizing focus on that issue, and killing two birds with one recall...and getting NO publicity for the "jerky back-up" problem! David (aka Blind Guy)
I was thinking the same thing. Also there is the possibility that Toyota did quietly fix it on newer models but since its part of a recall didn't draw attention to it. It would be interesting to see someone that had the software update for the recall if they still have the backup problem.
Good point, David! I will say it also happens going forward. It did that while I was lining up at the automatic car wash today.
