nothing shocking i suppose. almost makes you feel like the economy is slowing. i wonder how gassers are doing? is it possible the c sold the exact same number as september?
Looking at the numbers: Distinct break at 1,000 units Wonder if Japanese hatchback sales are soft too? Golf continues to under perform We really need inventory numbers Bob Wilson
..heard on radio yesterday Toyota sold a ton of RAV4 and Highlanders last month, it was also banner SUV month for FORD and someone else I forget who I am wondering if used hybrid sales help get more total people in hybrids, despite the new sales drop.
Source: Jeff Cobb's Hybrid Market Dashboard | HybridCars.comHybridCars.com (well worth reading!) Charts: Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry are running neck and neck I saw my first Ford hybrid commercial Tuesday evening. 1st tier: Prius hatchback 2nd tier: Prius C, Jetta, Leaf, Prius V, Ford Fusion, Camry 3d tier: Optima, Passat, Volt, Avalon, C-Max, Tesla, ES, Sonata, i3, CT200h, Accord Bob Wilson
Seeing the Ford Fusion and Camry running neck and neck, it makes sense: metric Ford Fusion Camry LE Camry XLE/SE 1 EPA combined MPG 42 41 40 2 user reports MPG 42.7(27) 38.6(3) 37.6(7) 3 volume ft{3} 117 116 116 4 price range $k $26.3-$32.6 $26.1-26.3 $27.7-28.6 It looks like the Ford is a solid performer easily meeting the EPA numbers. It is price competitive and a little more interior room. Now if the Ford gas-version is competitive with Camry, we may see some interesting changes in the future. Bob Wilson
Seems the hybrid poster-boy is losing altitude. And the PiP, what's up with that? there's an article on Hybridcars which asserts part of why Prius sales are so bad is because F series truck sales are so good. ... to which I say, then .... why are Corolla, Civic, Cruze, Camry, Accord, Fusion, Altima and more 2014 sales on up and up? IOW, what does a construction worker's need for a truck have to do with Prius sales? Um, nothing. Prius is, and ought to be competing with conventionals - Corolla, Civic, Focus, Elantra, etc... and to lesser extent Camry , Accord, etc... Top 30 Best-Selling Vehicles In America - October 2014 - GOOD CAR BAD CAR Prius /PiP are bounced well out of top 30 of all US vehicles. Lot of SUV, CUV and truck sales. Limited Camry Hybrid sales make sense as heavy refreshed 2015 arrived recently. Obviously gas prices are a big factor, but I think the overall 'unusual-ness' of Prius and it's underwhelming driving experience for the cost are wearing thin. Too many other hybrid alternatives for Prius liftback to stand out. It's a dated design in serious need of overhaul. IMO, it looks pretty bad inside by today's standards. Otherday a Toyota salesguy explains the Prius hard plastics everywhere inside are for weight savings. Fine. Keep doing that, Toyota, and suffer limited sales. The 6 1/2 year plan for redesign not good. I don't think there's a shortage. Hopefully this TNGA and 4th gen bring a big shot in the arm to Toyota hybrids. Darn long wait this time around, geeeez. Guess the tsunami slowed 'em down a lot.
Gassers are going just fine this year, Bisco. Top 30 Best-Selling Vehicles In America - October 2014 - GOOD CAR BAD CAR
37 MPG on Camry Hybrid? .... I just landed 48.2 MPG in rental 14.5 CamHy XLE at pump for a day's commuting and kickin' around. IMO, Toyota HSDs can easily beat their EPAs.
I wonder if the announcement of Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA coming in 4th Prius) has a lot of hybrids fans holding off on Prius sales.
Hmmm, Lexus CT200h, a rare hybrid with increased 2014 YTD sales, up 20% in '14 over '13 .... classically styled, sporty-type interior with soft touch materials. Does it seem people want comfort and some level of desirability after-all? Heck, what do I know ....
For grins, you might calculate the hybrid+plug-in take rate as a percentage of total sales for September. For example: Fusion: (2164+686) / 22846 = 12.5% Fusion take rate Camry: 2161 / 33164 = 6.5% hybrid take rate Bob Wilson
since gen II is '04 thru '09, it makes sense that gen III would also cover 6 model years. i still think gas prices have everything to do with it. people don't want to drive a prius, they have to be forced into it.
