2004 Prius About a year ago I heard a noise in the driver's side door. It sounded basically like something was scratching against the plastic, but I'd only hear the noise during acceleration/braking, for maybe a half of a second. That was for about a week, but then it went away and I didn't think about it anymore. Then, a little while ago, I was in an accident where a pedestrian ran into the road in front of me. He hit the driver's side, and there was some damage. Bumper, hood, front light replaced. Suddenly, I'm hearing the noise again, and it's not going away. Really, what it sounds like to me is as if some piece of something is loose inside the door and moving back and forth whenever I accelerate or break. I just want to see if anyone has any ideas before I go get into that side panel. And, for that matter, can anyone point me to instructions for taking the panel off?
'Sorry that I am not a technie with any words of wisdom, far less instructions, but I just thought I would let you know that you are not alone in hearing sounds coming from inside your car's door. I have a 2008 and I have definitely heard something loose and knocking around inside both of my 2 front doors. I have also read in another post about this being something that seems to be a known problem with Prius doors and/or windows and/or door locks. I mentioned it to my Toyota dealer service adviser a long time ago but of course he said it was nothing. So far, at 33k miles, I have had no major problems with the doors other than the passenger door sometimes refusing to lock when I press the button. Yes, I have replaced the battery in the remote plus the 12V battery.
