Wow. I had no idea Toyota couldn't afford an e-mail account for it's employees and they must rely on YAHOO for their e-mail.
What we need is some worldwide agency with enough police power to hold these scammers accountable for the winning amounts to all the "winners" they mail. If they say you've won half a million, they have to pay you half a million, enforceable using mail fraud rules (Pub Clearing House for example in its paper mailings never says you "won" only that you MAY have won to avoid prosecution for mail fraud (albeit the words "may have" are in small font and the word "won" is in 400 point boldface)). Something like this is going to happen soon because the world is choking to death on this stuff jammed up in our e-mail inboxes.
My favorite site: Scamorama. Too bad the Lads from Lagos didn't copyright their fraud, or they could sue everyone that's copying them....Even Ms. Zhu who is probably Chinese, not Nigerian or Japanese.
Duh, it is not a scam, you have to give them your checking account number so they can deposite the check. Everybody misses that point.
I'd email Ms Zhu back and tell her that as a sign of good faith, you need her to send you a check for $1000.00 to be sent to the western union office nearest your location. My favorite site for getting even with scammers is: Welcome to the 419 Eater
