You can imagine my horror as a car in the right lane doesn't even look or use turn signals and tries to get into the left lane.....right where my car was. The dinky little horn didn't do anything to phase this guy either.
Oh no!!!!! I think this every new car owners worst nightmare! I hope you are okay and your car is repaired as good as new!!! Good luck! I feel your pain...:fear:
sorry guys, they didn't actually hit my car, but this guy came really really close. which inside of this smaller prius, the other car looked HUGE. i've had almost the same thing happen to me many times in my old prius but i dont remember the cars every looking that big. I'm fine and my car is fine, i was just super pissed at how dumb and rude people are. i was definitely consider getting a much louder and meaner car horn
I had a similar situation with my last new car. I was five minutes into ownership when an oncoming pickup truck crossed the center line into my lane on a two lane highway. The driver must have been distracted. Only a high speed evasive maneuver saved me. My first thought, other than Wth, was "How do they know I have a new car?" Tom
the other thing i love is how people stop so friggin close to my rear, i look into my rearview and all i see is the grill of the car behind me
that's partly the fact that it's a hatchback, (no trunk to keep them further from the window) but it can be disconcerting when all you can see is grille.
Make sure it's not just a perception. Like Bisco said, it can look closer (when they really aren't) because of the hatchback.
^That's certainly something I'm getting used to. I've never had a hatchback, so I keep assuming there's a lot more of my car behind the window than there is. Parallel parked the other day, and when I got out there was a ton of extra space behind me, when I though I was really close
This is no excuse for the other guy, but the driver probably didn't see you. We have a pretty low profile in our little Cs and, because of that, we are hidden in more than the normal blind spots of other larger autos. People are just so distracted and careless, you've gotta drive defensively. Glad that you and your Prius are OK. Stay safe, Deb
I've been run off the road in 3 different cars. It's not a Prius thing but its smaller size is a factor. People just don't look or don't care. I've also noticed less stopping at Stop signs & red lights.
im sure he didn't see me, but if i were that guy i would have stopped moving into next lane when i heard the horn from the car i was about to hit. the horn didn't phase the guy one bit, he just kept moving into my lane. i finally had to hit the brakes to keep this guy from hitting my car
Two months after I bought my 06 HCH2 (Honda Civic Hybrid 2) a teenager racing in the Los Angeles Crest Mountains came flying around a corner and took off my rear end. I was so pissed.
