Since I have some time on my hands, decided today was the day to install the oil catch can on our Prime:).

Very similar to installing one on the gen3, just lack options for below:(.

    Some pics though:

The egr pipe after 21k miles:
    0DC47680-EF17-4CD9-906B-F2075045757C.jpeg (Very clean)

Intake manifold underneath the throttle body:

(There is some spooge there on both side of the manifold)

Pics with the manifold removed from the block and a look into each cylinder opening from the manifold (passenger to drivers side):

(Not too bad in terms of filth)

New manifold definitely has different air flow paths and a pic of the egr port inlet:

The biggest engineering fail by Toyota for this is the resonator you cannot remove unless you disconnect the hv line to the ac compressor:mad::

    DBAF9705-C08C-4F02-B422-38F9C649DEED.jpeg

And the new collection I'll be starting for parts that will not be going back on as the purpose they serve is not worth the materials they are made of:

    5AD84082-580A-403A-8BB6-4B885E3BB07E.jpeg
This support holds part of the wiring harness that is supported well around it. It blocks access to the egr pipe, so it ain't going back on;).

Another design fail is the wiring harness and the connections. To the drivers side of the manifold and egr pipe, there is a connection buried underneath the inverter and the ones in the passenger side are extremely difficult to access and I skinned my forearm removing them due to the resonator design fail:cautious:.

But the can is installed and accessible, so data will be forthcoming(y).

Now we're cooking, good pics. (y)(y)

EGR pipe does look very clean. Ditto for intake manifold EGR passages. OTOH, does the engine ever run??

Did you mean to say AC compressor? You're saying to get the engine air intake out of the way for access you need to disconnect that hv line? So do you disconnect the safety switch first, back at the hv battery??

I'm at 70% EV, so 30% of the time the engine runs;).

So about 7k miles of the engine running:).

Fixed the compressor comment as it is the ac compressor:whistle:.

I did not go the disconnection route, instead just moved the air intake resonator around:cool:.

Got it done and ready for the next data points(y).

Ten points from Gryffindor for an unsatisfactory cleaning of the engine bay.

This is my 8 year-old, 142,000 mile engine. Even after living in the Great Northwest! Get thee some Purple Power and disinfect that engine!

    But yours does look good:).

Hope things are going well in the city of Roses(y).

If you do, verify after that thie AC compressors's 12 volt connection does not runneth over with residual suds. ;)

    They actually fixed that;).

It is now on the side of the compressor:).

You now fight the design fail resonator to access it:cool:.

I guess better than shorting out the compressor because you want to eat off your engine block(y).

Hey, I just got a 3D printer, do you guys think people will be interested in buying the OCC bracket? @Raytheeagle @Rebound @Mendel Leisk ?

I’ll be using @danlatu file. I already sent him a message but he hasn’t replied. Also, this will be my first time using a 3d printer :LOL:

People probably will buy them, but you ain't gonna get rich off of it;).

    I wouldn't quit my day job:whistle:.

But I need to figure something out for the Gen4 / Prime as my catch can up top is a bit janky:cool::

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I haven’t gotten into learning how to create a 3d file, so I can’t help you there lol. This will be a new learning curve for me since I’m not tech savvy. Haha

    Not tech savvy:whistle:?

You can make a good video and edit it;).

    That's more than what I got:sick:.

But your skills and abilities will develop through use:).

So when you get more refined, keep the Gen4 / Prime in mind (y).

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I’m getting the sienna hybrid soon. Don’t think I’ll be getting a prime.

I have a need for some 3D printing:).

But the "start conversation" function appears to not be around anymore :(.

Would you be willing to make some small window spacers:whistle:?

I've looked online and can't find them, so 3D printing is the next best option ;).

    And it'll feel custom(y).

    I just found this post.
If you make a bracket for me I’ll buy it.

He sold his 3D printer :(.

    So no bracket from him;).

But I'm sure someone with one could make you one(y).

I must have been out of the office  when you did the OCC install last year. I just saw it from the link in the post on the PVC location.
My curiosity is getting the better of me and was wondering what the reason was for the new intake?
How many birds did you kill with one stone, just the OCC and intake?
Hope the 50k inspection provides the results you're looking for, I'm at 50k now too, and all I've done to the engine so far is spray the rubber hoses with Meguiars Mirror Glaze 40 rubber vinyl dressing, the same stuff I use on the rubber mats all around, for that kinda newish car smell in the cabin again. So nothing really to the engine cept oil changes.
    $35 / gallon / leather application added - 16 oz spray $16
Meguiars Mirror Glaze 40 Professional Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner Conditioner 64 oz | eBay
I have some is 3 spray bottles.

Not sure on the new I take design as I'm not a Toyota engineer;).

But it maybe that with the new design and different engine layout, they took the opportunity to change the intake up:whistle:.

I know the oil catch can is catching stuff as the first time I pulled it, I found that out. So the wide spot in the line that has been there since 22k miles is performing according to its roles and responsibilities :).

How well it is doing is yet to be determined, but I'll report back the amount it caught once the information is available(y).
