Any suggestions re: self oil change: filter type, oil brand/type...?
Anyone have trouble with CD player skipping...? Have 6-disc.
Had 2010 for 1 1/2 years; had 2 windshield chips repaired, and several small chips. Is there a design flaw in getting so many windshield chips...? Anyone have this problem...? This is our 3rd Prius.
    Thanx for any input.
    Charlie.

Welcome to PC Charlie! There are tons of opinions on oil changes here...just do a search. As far as the CD player, have you tried one of those CD head cleaning disks? Sometimes it takes 2 applications to clean the dust off of the read head. The windshield chips are probably just bad luck.

Factory filter, Mobil 1 0-20 synthetic ... doesn't get any better than that.

Here is a link for one of the oil change threads this one is good there are pdf instructions with pictures. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii.../67747-oil-change-2010-prius-do-yourself.html

I second what RevHI said, factory oil filter with either Mobil 1 0w-20 or Toyota 0w-20 oil.

I have only loaded my CD player last week, no skips to speak of though.

As far as the window goes you might have to adjust you following distance?

What generation and models were your previous Prii?

It's hard to beat the dealership's price (and availability) for 0W20. Might as well pick up the filter and drain plug washer while you're there ;)

Regarding the windshield chips, maybe road conditions are a factor? They are a fact of life, but if you're catching a lot of them there's maybe something you can do to improve the odds. Do you tend to follow close?
