you beat me to this. good read on an artice about oil changes. my dealer told me oil changes every 10K miles with the synthetic oil. I still check it every week or if going on a trip
Frequent checks are good. A car can go for years using almost no oil, then suddenly gulp a quart in under 1000 miles because of a bad PCV valve or other issues.
I think changing oil every 5K miles is a bit short... with today's engine, we should be able to do it every 7500 miles, even with stop and go... what you guys think?
^ That is the interval I am choosing (7.5K). I figure with the colder weather up here that 10K might be a bit long. But I will be sending my oil in for analyzing next time to see for sure.
7500 sounds like a better interval for me since most of my driving is highway driving and the ICE is running a majority of the time.
