I am at 4500 miles on my Prius, and I was wondering if its safe to let it go to 5000 to change the oil or should I stick to the classic 3000 mile rule? What do you normally change it at? Does anyone have a problem with scratching the plastic pillar where the metal part of the seat belt rests when they remove their seat belt? I was reading on another site about how cars with darker interiors are especially prone to getting knicks and scratches when people let their seat belts fly back into place behind them. If not, try to be aware if you aren't already of it to avoid this happening. Kim
No need to do oil changes any sooner than 5,000 miles. Doing it every 3,000 only enriches the people who do oil changes.
