Hey guys, just reporting here. I have a 2010 prius with 118k on the ODO and it uses a quart of oil every 2,000 miles, which is pretty good I'd say. What are your thoughts/experiences on this? It would be interesting to hear from some really high-milers what their oil consumption is.
By modern car standards that's pretty high consumption. That being said, you have a fully functional car that is very easy on fuel. Not a bad situation but nothing to brag about. Carry on!
I have 102k and have never had to add oil between changes. My OCI is 8k-10k. Maybe adding oil is normal, mine just doesn't seem to burn it. Yet.
A quart of oil every 2000 miles is getting up there. Toyota doesn't want to hear about it, of course.
What brand, type, and viscosity oil(s) have been used in it? How often has the oil been changed? How many miles on the odometer when you first noticed it using at about that rate? Yes, such details from "high-milers" would be interesting. I wouldn't consider 118K especially high; it should just now be getting nicely broken in.
