I was wondering if anybody could tell me the bolt thread size, for the oil drain pan, on a 2020 Toyota Prius Prime. I want to buy the EZ-OIL Drain Valve for my car.
Doesn't the manufacturer have a reference for Toyota Prius? It is likely it is the same for the Gen 4 Hatchback, 2016+. Also very likely the same for the Gen 3, 2010+ since they all use the same ICE beginning in 2010
M12x1.25 for the drain plug. The bolts that hold the oil pan to the lower engine housing are M6x1.0x10mm long.
That's the same one I had on my 2007 Gen 2 prius. Good to know that I can reuse it when I'm done with the first couple free oil changes on my Prime.
There's a couple of threads going, regarding these oil drain taps. I've been sitting on my hands, but gotta say: The oil pan drain bolt is pretty much the lowest thing, and kind of angled down. I don't think I'd want some sort of tap there, pointing down and able to be levered. It could be snapped right off (catastrophic), or just bent enough the oil pan needs to be replaced?
I have never re-used the oil drain valve on my cars. Can you replace a Viton-O-ring on EZ drain valve with a new one? Or it doesn't need to be replaced? Fumoto valves use fiber gasket washer, and they sell replacement gasket cheap. 12mm Gasket for F-103, F-107, F-109 Series Valves | FUMOTO
"replace a Viton-O-ring" Viton is a synthetic rubber that is resistant to moderately high heat and oil. Never replace with a common nitrile (neoprene) o-ring that has little heat tolerance and not the best for oil. I've used viton successfully on 250°F fuel oil. Worked great. (This was heated black oil for diesel engines.)
Thanks for the info. Not that I plan to replace viton-O-ring, but do you know if EZ valve sells replacement viton-O-ring like Fumoto? If they sell, it is not easily found on their web site.
