Toyota: Plug-in Prius returning 65 mpg in testing Apologies if this has already been posted, but the only thing I've read was the seattle article saying that the plug in doesn't make a difference.
I want to point out that the gas mileage is far more sensitive to driver and driving for Prius conversions than for a regular hybrid. For ours, we are consistently pulling >99.9 mpg tanks. That's a combination of mostly around-town driving and working at not exceeding the limits of the electric motors alone. And, I suppose, mild weather. My point is that if these cars attract purchasers who are a good fit for vehicle, the actual realized gas mileage will be higher. That isn't the usual standard for measuring gas mileage, but if this remains a niche product, that might be result.
