just saw a blurb on the local news about the City of Olympia going towards more fuel efficient vehicles including adding several Toyota Priuses since 2000. many department heads are requesting more and more Priuses to use since the fuel costs are tied to each departments budget costs. because of the Priuses they have reduced the city gas bill by 15% since 2000 when they started purchasing them. that does not seem like much except when you consider that gas was less than half the cost back then. the news showed a pic of the latest batch of Priuses delivered to the fire department. there was about 8 in the parking lot at the main station between 4th and State going downtown
I figured with all the tree huggers and democrates in Washington State there would be a vehicle sales tax incentive here.
state government went one step farther and REQUIRES alternative fuel vehicles if one is available that can handle the task at hand.
That all fine and dandy, but what about us. Oregon buyers get a tax credit and so do alot of other states, all we get is no required emissions test, wooohoo
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(FlyNLow @ Apr 18 2006, 09:41 PM) </div> Washington State may be filled with tree huggers, but their style of government up here is totalitarian, bureaucratic and money hungry. As such they are much less interested in hugging the trees as they are in hugging the taxpayers money.
